Most hardware is placed automatically from your construction schedule. When you need a connector somewhere the automatic rules don’t cover, you can place it by hand on a specific part face, or manually join two parts so the connector lands exactly where you want.
Good to know: Manual placement is an override. It applies to the product you’re working on and takes priority over the automatic connector rules for that face. |
Apply a connector to a part face
1. Select the product in the model space.
2. Select the specific part face where you want the connector.
3. In the Properties panel, turn on Apply Connector.
4. Choose the Connector Part Type, or leave it on Default Part to use the schedule’s default.
5. Set Connector Face (Front or Back) to choose which side the hardware sits on.
Note: For pull-style connectors you’ll also see Pull Placement (a grid — Automatic, Top Left, Top Center … Bottom Right) and Pull Rotation (Auto, 90°, 180°, 270°). |
Manually join two parts
Where two parts meet, you can force the connection between them instead of letting ENGINEERING decide which part gets the hardware.
1. Select one product.
2. Select exactly two part faces — one on each part.
3. In the Properties panel you’ll see two toggle buttons named for the parts, for example Join [Part A] to [Part B] and the reverse.
4. Turn on the direction you want.
Note: Direction matters. “Join A to B” attaches A’s hardware into B. Pick the direction that matches how the parts actually assemble. |
Quick checklist
• Select the product, then the exact part face.
• Turn on Apply Connector and pick the part type and face.
• For pulls, set Pull Placement and Pull Rotation.
• To force a connection between two parts, select both faces and use the Join toggle.
