A hatch is a repeating pattern — instead of a solid color — used to fill a closed annotation shape. Hatches are useful for showing materials in section and for drawing legends.
Good to know: Hatches are reusable. Build a pattern once, save it to the Hatch Library, and apply it anywhere. |
Fill a shape with a hatch
1. Select a closed shape — a Rectangle, Polygon / Polyline, Circle, or Ellipse.
2. In the Properties panel, open the Fill section.
3. Switch the toggle from Fill to Hatch.
4. Pick a pattern from the Hatch dropdown.
5. Set Scale and Angle, and optionally set the hatch fill color.
Note: Hatch fill is available on closed shapes only — not on dimensions or single lines. |
Create your own hatch
1. Draw the shapes that form one repeating tile.
2. Select them, then right-click and choose Save as Hatch.
3. Enter a unique Name and click Save.
Note: Hatch tiles can’t contain text, and any images in the selection are not included. |
Manage the Hatch Library
Open the Hatch Library panel to browse patterns by category, search, reorder them by dragging, and Delete or Restore patterns.
Section hatches on materials
A material can carry a Section Hatch so it shows the right pattern in section views automatically. Set the material’s Section Hatch field to a Hatch Library pattern. This is separate from filling an individual annotation.
Quick checklist
• Select a closed shape, open Fill, and switch to Hatch.
• Pick a pattern and set Scale and Angle.
• Save your own tile with right-click → Save as Hatch.
• Set a material’s Section Hatch to show it in section views.
