As a potential job progresses through your sales process, its status in INNERGY reflects where it stands. Understanding how Opportunity statuses and views work helps your team keep the pipeline accurate and ensures the Forecaster and reporting tools reflect reality.
The Two Views of the Opportunities Module
The Opportunities module uses two views that correspond to the active state of an Opportunity:
Kanban View — Displays all Opportunities that are currently active and in progress. Each Opportunity appears as a card and can be moved between columns to reflect its current stage in the sales process.
Grid View — Displays Opportunities that have been closed (won or lost) or inactivated. This view serves as a historical record of completed bidding activity.
Opportunity Outcomes
Every Opportunity eventually reaches one of the following outcomes:
Won — The job has been awarded to your company. The Opportunity is converted to a Project. Once converted, it moves out of the Kanban view and is tracked under Project Management.
Lost — The job was not awarded. The Opportunity is closed and moved to the Grid View for historical reference. It is no longer active in the pipeline.
Inactivated — The Opportunity is placed on hold or removed from active tracking without being formally won or lost. This is useful for jobs that are paused, delayed indefinitely, or no longer being actively pursued. Inactivated Opportunities can be reactivated later.
The Kanban Stages
While an Opportunity is active, it moves through stages on the Kanban board. The specific stage names are configurable by your organization, but common stages in a bidding workflow include:
New / Identified — The job has been identified as a potential opportunity.
Bid in Progress — Takeoff and estimating are underway.
Bid Submitted — The Bid Proposal has been sent to the customer.
Under Review — The customer is evaluating your proposal.
Verbal Award — The customer has verbally indicated you will receive the job.
Won / Converted — The Opportunity has been converted to a Project.
Tip: Keeping your Kanban stages up to date ensures the Forecaster reflects accurate pipeline data. Opportunity revenue is pushed to the Forecaster manually, so it is important to keep the Projected Revenue field current as the bid evolves.
