What is a Project in INNERGY?

An overview of the Project module in INNERGY — what a project is, its key components, and how it fits into the full project lifecycle.

Overview

A Project in INNERGY is the central record that tracks everything related to a single job — from the initial contract through production, installation, and final invoicing. Work orders, budgets, change orders, labor, materials, submittals, purchase orders, and financial reporting are all organized under the project record.

How Projects Are Created

Projects originate from Opportunities in the Sales module. Once an opportunity is awarded and marked as 'Closed Won', it can be converted into a project using the Convert to Project action. This ensures that customer information, bid details, and contract values carry through from the sales process.

Key Components of a Project

  • Details — The project's name, status, project manager, customer, contract value, and key dates.

  • Custom Fields — Additional data fields configured by your organization to capture project-specific information.

  • Contract — Stores contract-related information and documentation.

  • Budget — Materials and labor budgeted for the project, populated from the Takeoff or added manually. Includes the BOM (Bill of Materials) — the full list of materials required to complete the project.

  • Finishes — Project-specific finish specifications.

  • Job Costing — Compares estimated vs. actual costs and tracks project profitability across Drafting, Production, and Installation.

  • Work Orders — Individual units of work assigned within the project (Drafting, Production, or Installation).

  • Gantt — An interactive Gantt chart displaying work order start and critical dates, duration, and progress across the project timeline.

  • Sheets — View and navigate the drawing sets associated with the project.

  • Shop Drawings — Design files and documents uploaded and associated with the project.

  • Files — General file attachments for the project.

  • Emails — Email correspondence stored and associated with the project record.

  • Project Team — The team members assigned to the project.

  • Notes — Internal notes associated with the project.

  • Tasks — Action items and to-dos tied to the project.

  • RFI — Requests for Information created and tracked at the project level. RFIs can be addressed to individual contacts without requiring a company assignment, making them suitable for residential projects and homeowner clients.

  • SOV (Schedule of Values) — Line-by-line scope mapping that ties budget to invoicing.

  • Invoices — Invoices created and tracked against the project.

  • Submittals — Submittal packages with statuses, revisions, version history, and attached shop drawings.

  • Purchase Orders — Purchase orders created and associated with the project.

  • Change Orders — Modifications to the original contract scope, price, or products.

  • Shipping — Shipments associated with the project.

  • Impediments — Blockers or issues tracked at the work order level within the project.

Project Lifecycle

A typical project in INNERGY moves through the following stages:

  1. Opportunity created in Sales

  2. Bid and Takeoff completed

  3. Opportunity converted to a Project

  4. Work Orders created and released to production

  5. Materials purchased and received

  6. Labor tracked via the Kiosk or Time Tracking

  7. Shipping and Installation completed

  8. Invoice created and project closed

Navigating to Projects

Projects are accessible from the left-hand sidebar under Project Management > Projects. You can view projects in either a Grid view or a Kanban view to see their current workflow step.

Customizing Which Tabs Are Visible

Each user can hide tabs they don't use on Project pages, Work Order pages, and other multi-tab records in INNERGY. This keeps the tab bar focused on the tabs that matter to your role, without removing access entirely.

How to Hide a Tab

  1. Open the Project or Work Order page where you want to adjust the tabs.

  2. Click the Configure drawer icon near the tab bar (the gear or layout icon).

  3. A panel opens listing all available tabs for this page.

  4. Click the eye icon next to any tab you want to hide.

  5. The tab disappears from the main tab bar. Hidden tabs are still accessible from the More dropdown, where they appear with a slashed-eye icon.

Restoring Hidden Tabs

To restore all tabs to their default state, open the Configure panel and click Reset to Default Order. All previously hidden tabs return to the tab bar.

The first tab on each page always stays visible and cannot be hidden, so the page always has at least one tab to land on. Tab visibility settings are per-user — each person controls their own view independently.
