Product face annotations are added to the face of one product — for example, a cabinet door front.
Good to know: These annotations belong to the product. They travel with it when it moves — and they scale with it when you resize the product. |
Open a product face
1. In a Plan, Elevation, or 3D view, right-click the product face.
2. Choose Elevate. The Product Face view opens, ready to annotate — you’re in the annotations context automatically.
Annotate the face
1. Use any Draw tool to add dimensions, labels, notes, and shapes.
2. Use the Modify tools to refine your work.
What’s different on a product face
Annotations scale with the product
When you change a product’s size, its face annotations resize with it. Widen a cabinet from 24 in to 30 in and the annotations on the front face stretch by the same ratio, so they keep their position relative to the face. This also applies when you change a library product’s default size before placing it.
They travel with the product
Move the product to another spot on the wall and its face annotations move along with it.
Visible (read-only) in other views
A front-facing product’s annotations appear in the elevation view, and an up-facing product’s annotations appear in the plan view — as read-only overlays. To change them, return to Product Face view on that product.
Tip: Because they scale with the product, use product face annotations for notes that should follow the part’s proportions. For machining and exact measured cuts, use Part Face annotations instead — those don’t stretch. |
