Elevation annotations are added to the wall-elevation view — the straight-on front view of a wall and the products on it.
Good to know: Elevation annotations belong to the wall surface, not to a single product. If you move a product, your elevation annotations stay where you drew them — only the automatic dimensions update. |
Open an elevation
1. In the model space, right-click a wall (or a product face) and choose Elevate.
2. The Wall Elevation view opens. (You can also double-click empty space in the elevation.)
Annotate the elevation
1. Set Context to Annotations.
2. Choose a Draw tool — the full tool set from Plan view is available.
3. Draw on the elevation, and use the Modify tools to refine. Heights read the natural way — up is positive.
What’s different in elevation
• Annotations attach to the wall surface. They’re stored on the wall — deleting the wall removes them, and they don’t travel with an individual product.
• Product face annotations show through. Annotations you drew on a product’s face appear here automatically as a read-only overlay, so you see them in context.
Edit them back in Product Face view.
• Automatic dimensions and marks. ENGINEERING can add product widths and heights, gap dimensions, concealed-edge lines, and hinge marks for you, and they update as products move or resize (see Automatic Annotations).
Use an underlay
The elevation view has an Underlay context for placing a shop drawing or plan image behind the wall. Once a surface has an underlay, your annotations can snap to it. Hold Ctrl and drag to reposition the underlay.
Quick checklist
• Right-click a wall or product face and choose Elevate.
• Set Context to Annotations, then draw and modify.
• Remember: elevation annotations stay on the wall — they don’t move with a product.
• Let Automatic Annotations handle repetitive dimensions and hinge marks.
