Annotations are the lines, dimensions, text, and symbols you add to communicate a drawing. You add them by switching the current view into its annotations context, then using the Draw and Modify tools in the Tools panel.
Good to know: Annotation mode isn’t a separate screen — it’s a context you switch into inside whatever view you’re working in (plan, elevation, product face, part face, or a sheet). |
Switch into annotations
1. In a model space view, find the Context selector in the Tools panel.
2. Choose Annotations. (Shortcut: Control + .)
Note: On a Product Face, Part Face, or Sheet you’re placed in the annotations context automatically — there’s no Context selector to change. |
Draw tools

Modify tools
The Modify section edits what you’ve drawn: Move, Offset, Align, Extend, Trim, Chamfer, Fillet, Mirror, Rotate, Quick Mirror, Quick Flip, Bend, and Stretch.
Note: Modify tools are unavailable when an automatically generated annotation is selected — those are managed by ENGINEERING. |
Show or hide annotations
Use the Show / Hide toggle at the top of the Tools panel to display or hide annotations in the current view.
Tip: Right-click a selected annotation for quick actions — reorder (Bring to Front / Send to Back), Copy / Paste, Save to Library, and more. |
Quick checklist
• Set Context to Annotations (or open a face/sheet, where it’s automatic).
• Pick a Draw tool and draw on the view.
• Use Modify tools to refine.
• Use Show / Hide to control visibility.
