Automatic annotations are rules that add dimension lines and elevation marks to your drawings for you — so you don’t place them by hand on every product.
Good to know: Rules can be Project-specific or Global (reusable across all projects). Use the Project / Global toggle to switch between them. |
Open the panel
1. Open the Automatic Annotations panel. Existing rules appear in a grid.
Create a rule
1. Click Create.
2. Enter a Name.
3. Choose the Schedule Type — the Part Schedule the rule applies to.
4. Choose the Annotation Type and the Target Type (Elevation or Plan).
5. Set the remaining options, then save.
Annotation types

Dimension options

Note: Depth is available only for Plan Left / Right placement. Reverse Hinging is available for the Elevation Hinging type. |
Manage rules
Use the toolbar to Import a global rule into a project, Export a project rule to global, or Delete / Restore rules. Turn a row’s Enabled toggle off to pause a rule without deleting it. Turn on Show Automatic Annotations in a product’s properties to display them.
Quick checklist
• Open the Automatic Annotations panel.
• Click Create and set Name, Schedule Type (the Part Schedule), Annotation Type, and Target Type.
• For dimensions, set Placement, Gap, and Measure Type.
• Use the Enabled toggle to pause a rule, and Project / Global to reuse it.
