Inventory

Overview

INNERGY's Master Inventory tells you which materials are on hand right now and in what quantities. You can inventory both project-specific and stock materials depending on your preferred process. If a material is in inventory, it means it has been received and has not yet been consumed to a Work Order.

For general education on how Inventory works, see the Knowledge Base articles on Inventory or take the Inventory Management course in peAk.

Step 1 - Viewing in peAk

This guide is available inside peAk.

Step 2 - Dictionaries

Navigate to Configuration > Dictionaries. Review and edit the two Inventory-specific dictionaries before completing any other setup:

Material Delivery Location - Define the delivery location values used when receiving materials to inventory. These appear as dropdown options when employees select where a delivery should be placed.

Inventory Tags - Create tags that can be applied to inventory transactions for filtering, reporting, and audit purposes.

Step 2 - Configuration > Dictionaries showing Material Delivery Location and Inventory Tags

Step 3 - Company Profile - Settings

Navigate to Company Profile > Settings. There are three settings related to Material Delivery Location that control how your team interacts with inventory on the shop floor:

Material Delivery Location Required - When enabled, employees must select a delivery location every time material is received. Recommended if your warehouse uses bin-level tracking.

Populate Last Material Delivery Location - Automatically pre-fills the delivery location field with the last location used for that material, reducing manual entry.

Display Warning When Requesting Material Not on Work Order BOM - Shows a warning when an employee attempts to fulfill a material to a Work Order that does not have that material on its Bill of Material. Helps catch errors before they affect job costing.

Step 3 - Company Profile > Settings showing Material Delivery Location options

Step 4 - Company Profile - Warehouses

Navigate to Company Profile > Facilities. You must create at least one Warehouse for each Facility before inventory can be received.

You must create Warehouses in Company Profile > Facilities.

You will need at least one Warehouse for each Facility.

Important

DO NOT CREATE MULTIPLE FACILITIES UNLESS YOU HAVE SPOKEN WITH YOUR ONBOARDING SPECIALIST. Multiple facilities have significant implications for how inventory, purchasing, and reporting are structured. Confirm your setup with your Onboarding Specialist before creating more than one Facility.

Step 4 - Company Profile > Facilities showing Warehouse setup

Step 5 - Bins

Navigate to Company Profile > Facilities > Warehouses. Bins are the physical storage locations within each Warehouse. INNERGY uses Bins to track exactly where materials are stored.

You will need at least one Bin for each Warehouse.

Verify your Bins in INNERGY match the physical Bins in your warehouse.

If you have multiple Warehouses, make sure Bin names are unique across all Warehouses to avoid fulfillment errors.

You can also import Bins from the Company Profile > Facilities tab using a spreadsheet import.

Bin Labels

Create and print Bin Labels to physically label your warehouse locations.

Labels can be customized in the Labels area of Configuration.

Step 5 - Company Profile > Facilities > Warehouse showing Bins grid

Step 6 - Material Labels

Navigate to Configuration > Labels. Material Receipt Labels print automatically when materials are received into inventory. Review and customize these labels to match your warehouse's labeling requirements.

You can modify the Material Receipt Label layout to show the information most useful to your team.

It is common to have different layouts and sizes for different material types - for example, a larger label for sheet goods and a smaller one for hardware.

Review the Knowledge Base Articles on Labels for full instructions on creating and customizing label templates.

Step 7 - Hardware Setup

Set up the physical hardware for your Shipping and Receiving areas. At minimum you need Kiosks at each receiving station. Additional hardware is optional depending on your workflow:

Kiosks - Required for Shipping and Receiving areas.

Optional - Scanners for Material Handling and Shipping.

Optional - Printers for Material Receipt Labels and Shipping Item Labels.

Review the Hardware Recommendations from an INNERGY user for examples of what other customers are using for their warehouse hardware setup.

Step 8 - Reconcile Current Inventory

Before going live, import your current on-hand inventory quantities into INNERGY so your Master Inventory reflects your actual stock from day one.

1. Determine which materials you want to import into INNERGY's inventory. You do not need to import everything - start with the materials that are actively stocked and tracked.

2. Create an Inventory Import spreadsheet using INNERGY's import template. Match material names exactly to your existing material records in the Library.

3. Upload the spreadsheet to populate your starting on-hand quantities.

Watch the Video on Importing Inventory for a step-by-step walkthrough of the import process.

Best Practice

Do a physical count immediately before your go-live date and use those numbers for your import. Starting with accurate on-hand quantities prevents fulfillment errors and keeps your job costing clean from the first day you go live.
