Labor Library

Overview

The Labor Library in INNERGY is your central set of Labor Items - the operations your shop floor and office employees clock into at the Kiosk for time tracking, scheduling, and job costing. This guide walks through what a Labor Item is, how Labor Items relate to Departments, and how they connect to Burdens and Gemba Boards.

Step 1 - Viewing in peAk

This guide is available inside peAk.

Step 2 - Labor Library Setup

Navigate to Libraries > Labor. Build out a tree of Labor Categories that matches your shop floor operations (for example, Cutting, Edgebanding, Assembly, Finishing, Installation), then create Labor Items under each category.

Each Labor Item includes:

Direct Cost - The base hourly rate for the Labor Item. The Unit for Labor Items is always Hours.

Profit - Used together with Direct Cost to calculate the Labor Item's Total Sell.

Type - Fabrication, Installation, Indirect, Drafting Direct, or Drafting Indirect.

Job Costing - Controls how the Labor Item's cost flows into job costing.

Hide in Kiosk - Hides the Labor Item from the Kiosk clock-in list without deleting it.

Scheduling fields - Hours Per Day Per Person, Simultaneous Workers, and Total People Available, used if you include the Labor Item in scheduling.

Step 3 - Labor Items and Departments

Note

A Labor Item can optionally be linked to a Department, but the two are separate concepts. Departments (configured in Company Profile > Departments) group employees for timecard review. Labor Items are what employees actually clock into at the Kiosk. One Department can have many Labor Items linked to it.

Step 4 - Burdens

Navigate to a Labor Item's Burdens tab to attach Burdens to it. Burdens represent overhead or indirect costs - such as benefits, insurance, or equipment - added on top of a Labor Item's Direct Cost. Each Burden is set up as either a flat cost or a percentage of Direct Cost, and the same Burden can be assigned to multiple Labor Items.

Step 5 - Gemba Boards and Shop Floor Kanban

Labor Items that appear on a shop floor Kanban board are mapped to Departments through your Gemba Board configuration. This mapping determines which Labor Items show up on which Department's board.

Note - No Bulk Import

Unlike the Material and Contacts Libraries, there is no import spreadsheet for Labor Items - they are created individually. If you need to update scheduling capacity across many Labor Items at once, use the bulk edit option available directly from the Labor grid.
